Amateurs Race Day
A huge day of racing is the Amateurs Race Day. The first of our premier race days of the year and a warm up for the fun of racing to come for the rest of the year. Amateurs Race Day is all about the thrill… the thrill of live local racing, Fashions on the Field, glamour, good food and entertainment. Beautiful weather at this time of the year in Mackay to head trackside.
Mackay Cup
The most hotly contested local race is the Mackay Cup, part of the Northern Winter Racing Carnival in Queensland. Mackay Cup Day proves to be one of the biggest race days of the year. Boasting $150,000 in prize money, the Northern Carnival has unearthed some of the state’s biggest names in racing. Team that with Fashions on the Field and live entertainment for the ultimate day at the races.
NQ Classic Derby Day
A new favourite in the Spring Racing Carnival is NQ Derby Day. Attracting thousands of race goers from all over Queensland, Derby Day is a great day out for everyone. The traditional theme of Derby Day being black and white with a pop of the Major Sponsor’s colour, makes an exciting line up for Fashions on the Field. It really is a sensational spring racing event.
Melbourne Cup Race Day
Melbourne Cup at Ooralea Race Course is a not to be missed event. Thousands of race enthusiasts flock to the race course for a mid-week break, complete with local races, Fashions on the Field, quality beverages, and entertainment. Melbourne Cup is the ultimate mid-week race and always promises to deliver.
